I think it’s time we all admit it, hipsters are fascinating creatures. I find myself wanting to wear the same rad outfits that I see roaming around Chicago with an attitude that says, “Yeah, I just threw this together.” However, as much as I try to fight it, there’s a certain preppiness to my style that cannot be denied.

Recently I noticed a new type of style that has emerged. Said style is a combination of hipster and preppy; one in favor of this new collaboration is called a “prepster.” Very tailored, well-crafted clothes are paired with disheveled, miscellaneous items that counteract such structure. Perhaps it’s the whole mentality that a hipster is supposed to go against the norm that has brought together two very distinctively different types of fashion. Regardless of the subliminal messages that may or may not be in existence, I am in full support of this new hybrid style.

Cyber Monday is the term used to describe the Monday after Thanksgiving, where companies offer deals and sales for consumers to take advantage of. Marketing companies created the term to encourage people to shop online. Along with Black Friday, Cyber Monday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

Sometimes Black Friday and Cyber Monday are criticized for being so close to Thanksgiving, a day when people give thanks to the things they already have in their life. From a company’s perspective, this is one of their busiest days of the year, and also offers a great time to purchase holiday gifts at an affordable price!

The advantage of Cyber Monday is that you can shop without having to leave the comfort of your own home, and deal with parking, or the crowds at malls. These deals are very accessible from computer, phone, tablet, and any other electronic device with Internet. It’s important to do your research before purchasing, and make sure that you are getting the best deals.

2013 AMA's: Our Best Dressed Nominees

As the 2013 American Music Awards comes to a close,  the one thing that may be getting more buzz than the star studded, 3 hour event are the looks of the night. Taylor Swift stole the red carpet in a glamorous Julien Macdonald minidress paired with sky high Jimmy Choo heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Taylor was a big winner of the night, winning the prestigious award “Artist of the Year,” along with 3 other awards, taking home 4 out of 5 she was nominated for. Some other big winners included Justin Timberlake with 3 awards taken home out of 4 nominations and One Direction, dominating their categories with 2 out of 2 awards won.  Some other noteworthy outfits of the night include Kendall Jenner in a white cutout dress paired with a statement necklace and the world’s biggest boyband, One Direction, looking as dashing and put together as always (Louis’ outfit is my favorite). Today, November 22nd, marks the 50th year since John F. Kennedy's assassination in Dallas. On top of remembering what a remarkable president JFK was through the combat of racial discrimination, poverty, and war itself, we remember that the style the entire Kennedy family had raised them from being more than just the family in the White House, but also pop culture icons.

The Kennedy style has been greatly admired ever since the family was dubbed “America’s Royalty.” Take a look at some of Jackie and John’s best moments.

Long Hair, Don’t Care? More like, "Long Hair, I Do Care."

Every girl’s dream is to have the long, shiny, and luscious hair like the models in hair commercials, but it seems impossible doesn’t it? Yes, everyone is born with a certain hair color and texture, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful long locks. It’s all about taking proper care of your hair from the right products to the way you style your hair. 

Let’s go through a normal hair routine right after hopping out the shower.

1. Begin by drying your hair with a soft cotton t-shirt rather than a towel. Scrunch your hair to help absorb 

the water and AVOID twisting your wet hair up into your towel on the top of your head. When your hair is

 wet it is more prone to breakage and split ends, so be gentle with it.

2. When it’s somewhat dry, go in with a wide-toothed comb and gently comb out all the tangles. Next 

use a precision comb to part your hair. Then lastly go in with a regular hair brush and brush out your 

entire head of hair.

3. Next take Moroccan oil or a split end mender product and apply it to the bottom half of your hair. Focus 

on the ends of your hair avoiding your roots. This will help keep the ends of your hair healthy and 

reduce the chance of developing split ends.

4. Now here’s where people’s routines may differ. If you are one to blow dry your hair often, apply

 a heat protectant spray before blow drying. Heat is one of the most damaging things for your hair

 because it dries your hair out, so if possible, try to let your hair air dry. 

5. If you let your hair air dry, but want to style it, apply a heat protectant spray beforehand. Whether you

 like to curl, straighten or both definitely prep your hair ahead of time. Heat protectant sprays help 

defend against the heat from ceramic plates and barrels on styling tools.

6. Then next time you hop in the shower brush your hair out before so you don’t pull out hair when

 you’re shampooing or conditioning. Go for strengthening shampoos and conditioners that advertise

 for long hair. Also, look for sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners.

7. As for haircuts, get a trim approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. 

8. Lastly, remember that growing out your hair is a timely process that won’t happen overnight. Therefore,

 be very conscientious of the way you treat your hair and in no time it will be long, strong and you’ll 

be the envy of all the other girls in the room.

Carry-On Essentials

Here are some helpful things to include in your carry-on the next time you’re traveling. In addition to the picture set, I would definitely have hand sanitizer, snacks, a big bottle of water, face wipes, face moisturizer, hand cream, and chap stick. Remember to put liquids in a plastic Ziploc bag and they must be under 3.4oz or 100ml. Buy water, coffee, or your drink of choice after you pass through security. No one wants to have to throw out that $5.00 grande caramel macchiato after only 2 sips. Just bring plenty of things to keep you occupied while up in the air and you’ll have nothing to worry about.

At only twenty two years of age, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Olsen is drawing attention and making a name for herself both in the film industry as well as the fashion industry. The younger sister of arguably the world’s chicest twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Elizabeth found herself under a “you got it dude!” shadow until her breakthrough last year the Sundance Film Festival. Featured in the film Martha Marcy May Marlene, Elizabeth played the lead role that fought to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing a cult. With such a stellar performance, Elizabeth found herself to be the topic of discussion for months after the film’s debut. Declared the indie-film world’s new It girl, Elizabeth has not showed any signs of stopping. With many films in the very near future alongside Zac Efron and Robert De Niro, the future is looking rather bright for the youngest Olsen.

In regards to Elizabeth Olsen’s fashion, she has declared her style to be “schoolboy meets Faye Dunway in Network,” explaining how she wears what is comfortable and simple. Something that majorly sets Elizabeth apart from the other female actresses of her generation is that she refuses to endorse a specific designer, that is, except for her sisters. With a clothing line named in her honor, Elizabeth and James, Elizabeth is a large fan of her sisters’ Spring 2012 collection.
