The wait to know who Barneys New York will work with on their annual holiday collaboration is finally over. Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, a wildly successful rapper with humble beginnings in Brooklyn, New York, has plans to take over the third floor of Barneys Madison Avenue and transform it into a BNY SCC Gallery.  Using innovative technology that will incorporate video mapping, LED light design and projection, Carter’s collaboration is sure to impress.

With brands such as Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Balmain, Stutterheim, The Elder Statesman, En Noir, limited edition Shawn Carter by Hublot watches and more, “A New York Holiday,” as the collaboration has been properly titled, is seeking out a color palette of black, white, gold and silver to capture the “slickness, energy, and innovation of New York City.”

Barneys New York has also announced that 25% of the proceeds from their collaboration with Carter will be donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation, which awards college scholarships to underprivileged students.

Starting on November 20th, Shawn “Jay Z” Carter’s collection will be available in Barneys New York, Boston, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, and right here in Chicago. What better way to start out one’s holiday shopping than with Jay Z? Not only are you supporting Blue Ivy’s father and preparing for the holidays, you’re also helping students achieve a higher education; it seems like a win-win to me.
