Halloween on a Budget

Tomorrow one of the largest holidays for college students will be here: Halloween. Some love the holiday and look forward to piecing together an intricate costume, while others may like to take a more simple approach. For all of the ladies that like to keep it simple, I put together a guide that will help to utilize pieces you already own or pieces that you can borrow from friends. This way you’ll be able to put together something quickly with little to no expense!

Tourist (floral top, high-waisted shorts, Keds, fanny pack, sunglasses, sun hat)

Carmen Sandiego (floppy hat, red coat or blazer, black dress, black boots)

Gossip Girl character (plain button up, plaid skirt, knee socks, headband, Oxfords or flats)

Military (black skinny jeans, army green shirt or jacket, camo shirt, combat boots)

Different pieces can be swapped around to personalize the look, almost any basic piece from your closet can be used for different costume ideas. Another important note is that despite the stigma that girls should wear minimal clothing on Halloween, it's really all up to you and what you are comfortable with. Shorts can be swapped for jeans or you can wear a skirt or dress minus tights, it is really dependent on what you feel like rocking for the weekend!

A Legend Leaves Us

One of the most fabulous designers to ever live, Oscar De La Renta, passed away last week at age 82. De La Renta was battling cancer for the past eight years. Many celebrities have taken to social media to celebrate his life’s work such as Taylor Swift and Cara Delevingne.

In honor of his passing, I’ve put together a list of some iconic moments of his career and check out his Spring 2015 Ready to Wear collection here.

Taylor Swift, Oprah Winfrey

Ssarah Jessica Parker, Lupita Nyong'o

Emma Watson, Kerry Washington

Jennifer Garner, Zooey Deschanel

Jessica Alba, Amy Adams

Paris Fashion Week Highlights

I can’t be the only one to admit that they nearly teared up while admiring all of the fashion that debuted at Paris Fashion Week at the end of September into early October. (I shamelessly admit to watching the Elie Saab show during class). With so many designers featured at PFW, it was a daunting yet exciting task going through all of the runway show galleries and choosing my favorite collections. Here are my favorite four looks from my top nine collections:

Elie Saab:

Valentin Yudashkin:

Barbara Bui:

Balenciaga:

Andrew GN:

Valentino:

Leonard:

Carven:

Instagram Obsession

If you are like me, Instagram is in your most recently used apps and endlessly scrolling through pictures will take up way too much of your time. My recent Instagram obsession has been over the famous YouTuber, Lauren Elizabeth. Not only do I absolutely love how awesome her life looks through the red carpet OOTD’s (outfit of the day) and constant fan meet-and-greets, but the theme of her Instagram profile is perfection. Every picture fits with the others and her account looks almost more like a blog. Based on her YouTube videos and Instagram she really makes her personal style clear. She mixes grunge with simple chic neutrals for a unique look and her style extends into her Instagram. I’ve been trying to recently make my account more cohesive as well. Modifying your Instagram to fit your personality and style is something more people seem to be doing. The simple photo-sharing app has almost turned into a microblogging website.

Lauren Elizabeth has a YouTube channel that has grown to over 700,000 subscribers since she began in 2011. In addition to her videos on fashion, beauty, and life, she has a website, blog, and Instagram that document her life and style.

Check out her Instagram: @LoveLaurenElizabeth
