Street Style at DePaul: Military Jackets

Fran Tamburello, Allison Gehl, Nina Potempa
One of the hottest looks of fall is popping up all over campus: green military jackets. Military jackets are essential for every wardrobe because of their versatility and effortlessly cool look. I wear mine almost every day as a light jacket because I refuse to pull out the winter coat! These girls got the look right wearing the trend in several different ways.

Olivia Freshwater
In the first look, Olivia is on point with her jacket, pairing it with a black and white ensemble. Keeping the look sleek with a graphic tee and leggings is a great way to work the military jacket. Her jacket is also heavier giving it a double purpose for style and practicality.

Leah Voskuil
Next, we have Leah pairing her military jacket with a fun navy dress. The masculinity of the jacket works well to counteract the feminine dress, instantly giving the look a girly edge. Another key aspect to Leah’s jacket is the fit. Military jackets that cut at the hip are always a winner.

Oliva Steaban
The last look has Olivia in a long military jacket similar to the first look. She layers the jacket with a comfy sweater creating a perfect mixture of texture and color. One of the keys to rocking a military jacket is keeping it simple. Wearing neutrals draws the eye to the green jacket without being too distracting.

Also, try a jacket with black leather sleeves like Julianne Hough for an edgier look, seen above.

Or add a belt for a more put together look like Olivia Palermo, seen above.
