The Bolder, The Better

(Source: outlavv and celebstarlets)
As the seasons change and we transition from fall to winter it’s time to switch up your lip regime as well as re-think your color palette. Winter is a dangerous time for your skin, especially your lips. The wind, dry air, and freezing temperatures of Chicago can be very damaging if you do not take proper care of your lips. I suggest stocking up on extra moisturizing chap sticks, lip butters, and invest in a lip scrub (lush does a very nice lip scrub in various flavors). You can use the scrub on your lips how often you feel it necessary, but I do not recommend doing it daily. Also make it a habit to never leave the house without some sort of lip conditioner, you will thank yourself later! Now that we’ve covered the care and up keeping process for lips, let’s get serious and talk bold lips.
Both fall and winter are encouraging seasons for bringing out your bold lipsticks. I am a huge fan of bold lips. It’s such an easy trend to experiment with considering lipstick is fairly cheap and if you don’t like the outcome just take a makeup wipe and swipe it off. However, bold lips can be a bit intimidating. But there’s something so sultry about them as well as the woman who wear them. They make a woman look confident on the outside even if she doesn’t feel that way on the inside. One particular trend this winter that seems to be all the rage is gothic lips. Gothic lips can range anywhere from blood red to black shades with a little plum mixed in there. Dark lipsticks tend to bleed or look sloppy when applied alone.m Therefore I highly recommend purchasing a lip liner in a shade similar to your lipstick of choice. Lip liners are more precise and keep the lipstick looking clean.
For fall, I would stick to red and orangey shades. Be careful though because a lot of lipsticks with orange/coral undertones make your teeth look yellow. As for winter I would tryout the more maroon and purple-y shades. And the exact opposite rule applies to these shades: they make your teeth appear whiter so wear them proudly.
P.S. I am a huge fan of MAC lipsticks. They have amazing color payoff and they aren’t too expensive coming from a well-known brand. My two favorite bold colors in my collection are called Diva and Cyber.
Here are some cost friendly options as well as more high-end lipsticks, whatever you fancy. All from my lipstick collection. Enjoy!
